Quetta will host PSL 2023 Matches.

Quetta will host PSL 2023 Matches. It will be the city’s first high-profile cricket event since its only ODI in 1996. a three-wicket Pakistan win over ZImbabwe.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to include Quetta’s Bugti Stadium among the venues that will host the Pakistan Super League in an unprecedented move (PSL). The eighth edition of the league, which will take place from February 13 to March 19, will now be held in five different cities: Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Quetta.

The decision to expand the list of PSL venues was made by the newly formed 14-member management committee, which took over from the deposed PCB chairman Ramiz Raja. Originally, only four venues were planned for the 2023 season.

I am delighted to announce today, seven years after the Pakistan Super League’s inception, that we have committed to making Bugti Stadium in Quetta the fifth venue for our flagship event “According to Najam Sethi, chairman of the PCB management committee said. “Bugti Stadium is the home ground of Quetta Gladiators and we still remember the incredible scenes when the Gladiators visited the city after winning the 2019 tournament.

Bugti Stadium is the property of the local government, but it was given to the PCB in 2001 under an agreement in which the board agreed to improve and maintain the ground.

The stadium has hosted domestic games since 1954, but not consistently; between 1977 and 2004, the venue was ignored for the QuaideAzam Trophy, Pakistan premier first-class competition. It hosted four first-class games in 2019 after a 12-year absence from 2007 to 2019. The weather has been cited as one of the main reasons for the stadium’s sporadic use – Pakistan domestic season runs from October to March, and winter temperatures in Quetta range between 4-6 degrees Celsius.

The Balochistan government has also announced a pre-PSL festival game between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi on February 5. To ensure Bugti Stadium is ready to host PSL games, the PCB will collaborate with the provincial government and local government to upgrade and renovate the stadium. Separate discussions about security clearances will be initiated by the PCB with relevant authorities.
