Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by one run in the tense Pakistan Super League championship match on Saturday, becoming the first team to successfully defend their title and taking the trophy home. The match was played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The Sultans narrowly missed accomplishing their challenging 201 run target while chasing it, falling short by one run.

After dismissing the innings’s first batter, Usman Khan, David Wiese provided the breakthrough during the run chase in the fourth over of the innings.
Rilee Rossouw and Mohammad Rizwan put together an excellent combination of 64 runs in 42 balls to help the Multans maintain the desired run rate despite the early defeat.
Rashid Khan, though, struck out Rossouw to end the game just as the batter was about to give the Qalandars the advantage.
On his final over, Rashid struck once more as Rizwan, 34 off 23, died attempting to clear the long-on boundary.
After giving up 34 runs in his first two overs, Shaheen returned in his second session and managed to get rid of the dangerous Kieron Pollard. In 16 balls, the all-arounder for the Windies scored 19 runs.
In his final over, Shaheen also took three wickets, giving his team a good chance to win the game.
However, Haris Rauf gave up 22 runs in the penultimate over to guarantee a nail-biting conclusion to the game.
But, Zaman Khan maintained his composure to lead his team to victory in the game’s final over and save 13 runs from being scored.
In their allocated 20 overs earlier, the Qalandars scored 200-6.
To secure their place in the championship game, the Sultans overcame the Qalandars in the qualifier. Lahore, however, defeated Peshawar Zalmi to get to the final game.
