Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrested
Former Prime Minister, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek -i-Insaf, Imran Khan is arrested today from Islamabad High Court, by NAB Rawalpindi. Dozens of Pakistan Rangers and Pakistan Policemen seized Khan. Several paramilitary groups detained Mr. Khan after he entered the court compound camera, and then they drove him away in armored vehicles.
On May 1, the National Accountability Bureau issued a warrant for Khan’s arrest in connection with the matter.
According to Akbar Nasir Khan, a top police official in Islamabad, Khan was detained in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust issue.
Imran Khan was allegedly kicked and struck in the head by the Rangers before being taken away, according to Khan’s attorney.
“Rangers forced their way inside and shattered the room’s door and window. In a video shared on the PTI’s social media account, Gohar Ali Khan, who was with the former prime minister at the Islamabad High Court, claimed that someone dragged Imran Khan from his wheelchair, kicked him, and beat him on the head.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of Mr. Khan has urged its supporters to demonstrate. Violence has been reported in several cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar, in the hours since he was taken into custody.
