The player of the match is Glenn Phillips: [On his knock] It’s fantastic to be returning to Sabina Park. I have wonderful memories of this place, so it was fantastic to be able to receive a fifty for my nation in front of an audience that I adore. [Problems at the beginning of the inning] The West Indies boys up front deserve credit.
Captain of the West Indies, Nicholas Pooran Simply put, we were absent today. A sizable total was also achieved by New Zealand. They removed us from the contest. After losing two wickets in the second over, we were unable to form a partnership. [On just having one spinner] In retrospect, yeah. Just two spinners are available. Since Akela [Hosein] is also taking a nap, it is somewhat challenging to play both of them simultaneously. We would ideally like to perform both of them. We accept that things are as they are and the results. We should have pitched up a little bit more because we didn’t bowl properly. We lacked discipline. In meetings and anytime we come across each other, we keep talking about the same issue.
The captain of New Zealand, Kane Williamson: [On the country’s recent triumph] A wonderful performance was given. We are aware of the firepower and strength this WI team undoubtedly possesses. There were some excellent contributions made today to carry out our plans, and it was an improved performance to back it up with the ball and the field once more. [On incorporating the extra spinner] We knew the schedule would be challenging from the start, so we do need to manage our players, but because we were playing on the same surface, we also thought Michael would contribute, and he did so significantly. It was a pretty strong overall performance since the men worked well as a team.
