Ben Stokes | Player of the Match and England skipper: It’s been amazing. Every time we visit this place, we receive fantastic support. Coming back from Lord’s last week after being let down gives us a lot of confidence and positions us for an exciting conclusion. the effort that (Crawley) put out, especially in the first several innings. He played brilliantly considering it was a new ball wicket. For us, that innings at the top of the order defined the game. Foakes is a massive asset to the squad because of the great way he maintained himself throughout the summer. He played in an amazing game, one he should never forget. Given that he produced one of his greatest bowls in the first innings, he (Robinson) deserved to be called back into this group.

Dean Elgar | South African skipper: Congratulations to England, who has performed far better than we have over the past three days. Coming here, we had a strategy that involved choosing the team and choosing to bat first. None of the choices I made before the game are regrettable. Undoubtedly, the first innings disappointed us. We have learned a lot and found many positives. With plenty of time before the next test, we will start over. The afternoon phase saw a much-improved performance, although as I already stated, the opening innings killed us. Bowlers have been put under a lot of strain, and this has taught them a lot. Not ideal but we are getting there. Cricket is such a humorous game, with the edges going to hand and everything.
