the match and player of the series

Steve Smith | Player of the Match and Player of the Series: You constantly want to give back to the group and support their achievement. Their new bowlers have been outstanding, but it was always challenging in the beginning. So, we were aware that we had to overcome that. Whenever it is necessary for the team, I like to bat third because I believe that is the ideal position for me. (On Finch) We’re all sorry to see him go because he’s been a significant part of the team for ten years and has done a great job.

Kane Williamson: Performance was slightly better, but Australia proved their talent. We’ve seen hints and little instances throughout where they were able to reverse the pressure. The teams need to be put under strain more frequently, and we need to learn to adapt to conditions more quickly. I only wanted to bring up Finchy and offer my congratulations on a fantastic ODI career.

Aaron Finch; The teamwork of Steve and Marnus was outstanding, and it was fantastic to reach 260 after one of the sluggish starts. We have bowled well, and everyone has contributed. Pretty good; happy that I no longer desire to field 50 overs. I will always be grateful to my family for all they have given to help me succeed. It’s a rapid turnaround because we have a picture shoot in Sydney tomorrow and travel to India the following day. There are just so many people I want to thank for supporting me ever since club cricket. My wife and kids have stuck by me through all of my ups and downs, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ll always be appreciative of them.
